The translation for the Congress was provided through the Wordly.ai program. This is used for translation by many, many large organizations (see the Wordly.ai site). It transcribes the voice in real time and translates it into any of over 100 languages. It worked very well with English and French. It did a reasonable job with Armenian. At the user end, one could see the translation updated on a personal device. Wordly has capability to offer text-to-speech through your headphones, but there was a pronounced delay and I found it easier to simply read from my phone.
While the simultaneous translation was advertised as servingfive languages (Armenian, English, French, Russian, Spanish, it actually was useful for over 100 languages. The 5-language constraint is more applicable to when the languages are projected onto a screen and space becomes the limiting factor.
The Wordly app was available using a QR code on the back of our name tags which allowed us to choose our language.

The 14th Armenian medical world Congress held in Madrid is the first AMWC held in Europe since the Lyon Congress in 1998. as such, we expect a number of languages coming from all over Europe and beyond. While the official language is English, we want this to be has multilingual and inclusive as possible.
Live translation during the Congress is held in Armenia have been vital to our mutual success. However live translation is expensive and requires special equipment that is not available in the breakout sessions. Our host organization, AMADeA, has undertaken an arrangement with a company called Wordly.
Wordly.ai is a California-based company specializing in AI assisted translation software. Our goal is to transcribe speech to text, and translate that text into the various languages preferred by our participants. Text to voice technology will allow audible speech in your preferred language, on your own personal device.
What will this require? For our audience members, bring your own personal device (telephone, tablet) with Wi-Fi capability and earphones if you prefer to listen to translated speech.
For session organizers and speakers, we will appreciate an outline of your speech including any specific names of diseases, people or places that should be added to the glossary. Another option which is less technology-intensive can be accessed at https://polyglotte.am/ The easiest way to learn about this program is to click "Demo" in the upper right-hand corner and start playing with it. Polyglotte would be an easy way to set up on-the-spot translation between multiple languages in a few moments.

Specialty list were generated to populate the translation program (Wordly.ai) with medical terms in Armenian, as their experience with Armenian is not as extensive as for other languages. In some cases, the list is generated by ChatGPT (give me a list of medical terms ...) then copied into a Google sheet that translates to Armenian and then back-translates to English so that questionable translations may be quickly recognized.
